Privacy

wea-the-r has no accounts, no analytics, no advertising and no trackers. There is no server behind it — nothing is sent to us, because there is no "us" to send it to.
This page describes the only data the app touches.
Location
To show the weather where you are, the app asks for your location while you are using it.
Your coordinates are rounded to four decimal places (roughly 11 metres) and then sent to two places:
- MET Norway, the Norwegian Meteorological Institute, to fetch the forecast. See their terms.
- Apple (on iOS) or Google (on Android), through the operating system's own geocoding service, to turn the coordinates into a place name such as "Oslo, Norway".
Your location is not sent anywhere else, is not stored by us, and is never linked to your identity — the app does not know who you are.
You can refuse or revoke the location permission at any time in your device settings. The app will then tell you it cannot work out where you are, and show nothing else.
What stays on your device
- Your temperature unit (°C or °F) and whether the morning forecast is on.
- The most recent forecast, cached so the app works briefly without a network.
- The scheduled morning notification, if you turned it on. It is scheduled by your device, not by a server, and contains no push token.
All of this is removed when you delete the app.
Sharing an image
When you share the weather, the picture is drawn on your device and handed to the system share sheet. You choose where it goes. The app does not upload it anywhere.
Children
The app collects nothing that could identify anyone, of any age.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it.
